South Carolina General Operation Grant Opportunity- Senior Organizations

Organizations serving low-income senior citizens have seen an increase in the demand for their services in recent years with the aging population living longer, while the cost of living increasing.

The Duke Energy Foundation has committed funds to assist nonprofit organizations within its South Carolina footprint to help meet and grow these services offered to low-income seniors.

Organizations who qualify can apply for up to a $10,000 grant to cover general operating expenses of its organization and programs. Note: these funds can not be used for utility assistance or weatherization programs.

Application period

  • Application period January 8-28
  • Grant review January 29- February 5
  • Grants announced week of February 12

Opportunity

This is a one-time-only opportunity for 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. Interested organizations should have a core mission to serve low-income senior citizens and must meet the following qualifications:
  • Organization must provide services in one or more counties served by Duke Energy
  • Organization’s mission must primarily serve low-income senior citizens
  • Opportunity is not open to governmental agencies, cities or counties
  • Requested funds cannot be used for utility assistance or weatherization programs
  • Grant application must be for nonprofit organizations, not for individuals

Applying organizations must provide services to low-income senior citizens, including but not limited to:
  • Home delivery meal assistance
  • Transportation assistance
  • Home modifications
  • Programs that help seniors maintain a safe, self-sufficient and fulfilling lifestyle
Applicants may request funds up to $10,000 for general operating expenses of their organization and/or programs.
